His son was the famous lawyer and writer Fermín Bouza Brey. He was also a journalist and edited several newspapers of Arousa (La estrella galaica, Faro de las rías, El Pueblo and La Opinión) and the newspaper Fin de Siglo (Santiago de Compostela), where he narrated the transfer of Rosalía de Castro's remains to the Pantheon of Illustrious Galician at St Domingo de Bonaval Convent.
